BANGKOK, Thailand – The Transport Ministry is pushing ahead with a taxi boat service on Klong Phasi Charoen, with electric and solar-hybrid boats planned for a route linking 15 piers. Deputy Transport Minister Sanphet Bunyamanee said the service would provide an alternative to road travel while supporting tourism along the canal, and it is expected to carry more than 1,500 passengers a day when fully functional.

Bangkok to Launch On-Demand Electric Boat Taxi Service

The 15 piers will include stops at tourist attractions such as Talat Phlu and Wat Kampeang Water Market, with some to be newly built while others are existing facilities operated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and local temples.

A feasibility study found that more than 77 per cent of Thai respondents were ready to switch to taxi boats for their commute once the service launches.
